Lenz Heated Socks: Are they worth it? My thoughts…

I may be bias, but I firmly believe winter is the best season. I have been lucky enough to “double my winters” with a trip home to the Southern Hemisphere recently.  As a once was Podiatrist I was keen to give the Lenz Heated Socks a go on my trip to the snowfields of New Zealand.  The self confessed gadget nerd in me absolutely loved the hype around these heated ski socks.

Lenz Heated Socks

The Lenz heated socks are one of the affordable heated ski socks you can wear for long hours while your feet remain warm in your ski boots. Features like its ergonomic design, three-level heat setting, short charge time, etc., are why, in this article, I will give a complete review of the heat socks.

The LENZ Heat Socks 4.0 Toe Cap is a product of the Lenz company. They specialize in several heated pieces of equipment and clothing for winter. For example, along with making heated ski socks, the company also produces heated insoles, heated gloves, etc.

The Lenz heated socks run on two lithium rcB 1200 battery packs. The battery pack stays on the leg band of the socks around the upper calf area. When you wear the socks, you can attach them through the press studs. Although they are quite bulky, they do not feel uncomfortable, and you’ll barely notice they’re there.

The batteries don’t take too long to charge, and when they are up and running, they can last for days. The battery provides three heating levels to suit whatever activity you’re performing while wearing the heated ski socks. No matter what level, low, medium, or high, the Lenz heated socks provide efficient warmth. One of the best parts of heated ski socks is that it doesn’t take much time for the socks to heat up.

The duration at which the battery of the Lenz heated socks lasts depends on what level of heating you put it on. The low level lasts about 10-15 hours (107°F/42°C). On a medium level, the ski socks last for 5-7 hours (125°F/52°C), and when the heating is on a high, it lasts for about 3-4 hours (140°F/60°C). If you want to get the most out of your socks, you should time your activity with the battery runtime.

The batteries are rechargeable, and along with the heated ski socks, there’s a USB charging cable with a charging indicator. The batteries recharge via one global USB charger of 100-240 V, and since it doesn’t take many hours, you can use your socks multiple times a day.

App connectivity + control ✔️

You can control the Lenz heated socks further by downloading the free Lenz app. The app is optional. If you feel you have enough control of your heated ski socks manually, then don’t bother about the app.

The Lenz heated socks do not feel uncomfortable to wear, and you barely notice there’s wire around them. The material of these heated ski socks is high quality. Materials like polyester (54%), nylon (29%), merino wool (7%), spandex (5%), and polypropylene (5%) make it easy to wear and for the socks to fit your legs snugly.

They feel like regular socks, with the exception that heat is regularly circulating through your toe cap. The heating system is sewn inside the socks. For those people who might be worried about the socks showing when they wear them, they don’t need to bother. You can wear loose clothes over the socks, and no one will have an idea that the Lenz heated socks are warming up your feet.

The heated ski socks are suitable for both men and women, with extra small, small, medium, large, and extra large readily available for purchase. If you have wider calves, the wool and stretchy material will make it easy for the Lenz heated socks to accommodate your calves. The socks are black.

Maintaining The Lenz Heated Ski Socks

The Lenz heated socks are easy to maintain. You don’t need to wash them after every use because they don’t get dirty quickly. However, if there’s a need to wash them after each use, do so. These are the easy ways to maintain heated ski socks:

  1. Use a washing machine to clean the socks at 30° on a gentle cycle to prevent damage to the heated ski socks. The manufacturers of the socks warn against hand washing the socks.
  2. Do not use a tumble drier on the socks. After washing the socks, hang them somewhere they can air dry.
  3. Don’t wash the socks with the battery attached to them.
  4. Only wash the Lenz heated socks in a wash bag which comes with the product when you buy it.
  5. Don’t use bleach or iron on the socks.
